What is DVT?

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) is a blood clot that forms in a deep vein, usually in the legs. If the clot breaks free, it can travel to the lungs and cause a pulmonary embolism, a potentially fatal emergency. Early screening as soon as symptoms are identified is vital.
